Merry Christmas from 1st Primary School Bjelovar

This year we decided not to have a real Christmas tree but an artificial one made of wooden boards. This tree will be used for many years. We just plan to make different decorations each year.

Bug hotels

During a workshop, our pupils made beautiful bug hotels which will be put around our school garden. With the help from our janitors, who made the frames, our pupils brought leaves, sticks, straw, cones and bamboo sticks and made the bug hotels. The biology teacher explained the importance of the bees and other insects that live in our gardens.

Getting ready for Christmas

This week we have been busy decorating our school. We held a workshop during which we have made Christmas decorations using old paper. Hope you like it! 

Christmas decorations at Skrunda secondary school!

 Skrunda Secondary School students participating in the European project "Schools for the future-be part of creating an eco-friendly world" this year participated in the Christmas decoration competition organized within the project. The aim of the competition was to create a Christmas decoration or gift wrap using recyclable materials (plastic bottles, various packaging, corks, bags, etc.) and natural materials. Pupils' works can be seen in an exhibition on the third floor of the school. The students voted and chose the favourites.

Trash is all arould

During last week we had a workshop about recycling. We learned that one person in Croatia makes around 1 kilogram of trash. In the photos, you can see how much trash our 20 families make in a week. We were surprised by the amount of it. :( 

Workshop - Sorting and Recycling

During December the older pupils involved in the project did short workshops with the younger pupils where they talked about the importance of recycling and how to recycle properly. It was really educational and fun for the youngest pupils in our school. Click on the image to watch the video.
